In an earlier post about the useful Indian government websites,
I have listed about 10 government websites in India. In this post about
the useful Indian websites, we will be covering both Government as well
as other public websites of my interest.
Categories such as Bank sites, Email providers. ISP’s etc. are not
included here. This list would provide the websites based on common
interest and focused groups like above may not fit here within this
list.
I would have separate posts on the specific sectors sometime later.
Now here is my list of Useful Indian websites, where I frequent a lot.
1. IRCTC
IRCTC.CO.IN
is the website for booking your train tickets. The site is very user
friendly and allows you to book tickets easily. Using the connection
with the IndianRail.Gov.in website, it provides you an option for searching the train numbers and other information about travelling between two stations.
2. FlipKart
FlipKart.com
is one of the most visited ecommerce site when I wanted to do some
online purchase. In most cases, my purchase is limited to books and
occasionally other things like mobile phones. The most interesting thing
I like about them is the easiness to use the site.
3. RedBus
RedBus.in
is another useful Indian website. If you are planning a travel and
Trains are not available, the best option is to get into a Bus. RedBus
gives you an option to book your Bus tickets
4. Book My Show
Bookmyshow.com is an interesting website if you are looking for tickets, especially cinema tickets.
5. Job Sites
There are a number of Job boards in India. My personal favourites are Naukri.com and TimesJobs.com.
6. Real Estate websites
Looking for a dream home? You might want to use sites like 99acers.com, Magicbricks.com etc… For people who are interested in properties in Kerala, can visit LivArea.com
7. CricInfo
CricInfo is for cricket lovers, who is not?, those who are away from the TV. CricInfo provides updates on worldwide cricket matches
8. MakeMyTrip.com
MakeMyTrip is a useful site when you plan a air travel. This site has
ties with airline providers and at times offers cheap tickets than the
principal companies.
9. Market place sites
Marketplace sites such as Ebay.in, OLX.in, ClickIndia.com etc. are a
good set of websites for buying and selling items online. It would be
interesting to note that your “no more used” products would find some
value through these sites.
10. MoneyControl
MoneyControl.com is a website for those who are interested in
financial side. This site provides various reviews and advices of stocks
and other investment tools. Websites such as NSEINDIA.com and
BSEINDIA.com provides information about the stocks and related products.
